In 1999, Dominique Lafon – famous for its iconic Meursaults – expanded its wine business into southern Burgundy. Under the name Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon, he found in the Mâconnais a terroir that perfectly reflects his philosophy of precision, purity and natural expression.
The vineyards, now about 26 hectares in size, are spread over appellations such as Milly-Lamartine, Uchizy and Viré-Clessé. They are biodynamically cultivated and are located on clay and calcareous soils that combine richness and excitement.
Since 2021, winemaker Elsie Moore has been at the helm of the estate, along with Léa and Pierre Lafon, the next generation of the family. Under their leadership, the wines retain their distinctive style: refined, lively and unaffected, with a clear expression of origin. Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon proves that the Mâconnais can belong to the absolute top of Burgundy.
